Construction and Maintenance

Metrolink construction and maintenance crews are constantly working throughout the entire Southern California system expanding capacity, upgrading systems and maintaining existing infrastructure to help provide the highest quality of safety and service to our passengers. This work also helps to ensure a safe and smooth flow of freight rail traffic throughout our region.  Here are examples of the type of work we do to maintain our rail system.

Ventura County Line – Metrolink Railroad Infrastructure Improvement Work in the cities of Moorpark, Simi Valley, Chatsworth, Northridge and Van Nuys – EXTENDED

September 16 – October 18, 2019 – Extended to November 18, 2019

To keep train service safe and reliable, Metrolink crews will be performing track maintenance along the Ventura County Line between the cities of Moorpark, Simi Valley, Chatsworth, Northridge and Van Nuys.

Orange County Line - Metrolink Railroad Maintenance

October 7 - November 18, 2019

Maintenance work will be conducted on railroad tracks that Metrolink operates on between Capistrano Beach and San Clemente.

Metrolink Railroad Maintenance work in Cypress Park – DATE CHANGE

November 8 - 9 , 2019

Railroad maintenance work will be conducted on the railroad tracks along that Metrolink operates near Arvia Street, River Edge Road and Chaucer Street in Cypress Park.

Orange County Line – Metrolink Railroad Maintenance in the City of San Juan Capistrano at the Del Obispo Street rail crossing closure between Camino Capistrano and Alipaz Street

  • Friday, November 1, 2019 from 8 p.m. until Saturday, November 2, 2019 at 7:00 a.m.
  • Saturday, November 2, 2019 from 8:00 p.m. until Sunday, November 3, 2019 at 6 a.m.

San Juan Capistrano Passing Siding Project 

OCTA and Metrolink are improving the operational efficiency of the Los Angeles – San Diego – San Luis Obispo (LOSSAN) rail corridor. Click here to learn more about this project that will add 1.8 miles of passing siding railroad track between the Laguna Niguel/Mission Viejo Metrolink Station and Trabuco Creek in San Juan Capistrano.
