We inspire people to go beyond their cultural boundaries and connect with the world around them.
We help people experience what’s special and unique about a place, its people and its culture.
Culture Trip is a global startup operating in travel, media and entertainment. We create stories that reveal what is unique and special about a place, its people and its culture.
In-house creative and editorial teams work with a global network of freelance creators to tell location-centred stories around the world, including articles, videos, photography, illustration and animation.
Culture Trip has won many accolades for its inspirational content and the growing impact of its brand. It has been named by Forbes as one of the fastest-growing companies to watch. Culture Trip has been selected as App of the Day by Apple in the UK.
As a company, we identified seven causes that we care deeply about and want to make a positive impact on, both inside Culture Trip and throughout the world.
Our Company causes are: Women's, Multiculturalism, Mental Health, LGBTQ+, Family and Carers, Sustainability and Volunteering.
Each of our causes are supported and driven by a dedicated Network of passionate employees who are responsible for generating a range of relevant changes and initiatives in each area. Each Network also has an executive sponsor and an employee lead to ensure their sustained progress.
Dr Kris Naudts and a small team spent four years evolving the concept of Culture Trip. Dr Naudts secured seed funding of $2 million in 2015 and Series A funding in 2016 when PPF Group invested $20 million.
Culture Trip has shown record-breaking growth: monthly unique visitors have gone from 4 million to 15-20 million, cross-platform social followers have increased from 1 million to 8 million, and app downloads have leapt from 50,000 to more than 2.5 million. Culture Trip videos have been viewed more than 2.5 billion times in the last 3 years. A further funding injection of $80 million in 2018 has propelled hypergrowth.
From just a dozen people in late 2016, the team has expanded to nearly 300 members of staff. This diverse team composed of engineers, creators, data scientists, media experts, and marketers is spread across offices in London, NYC, and Tel Aviv.
Culture Trip also has a network of more than 600 freelance local content creators, who cover hundreds of cities across the world. In-house editorial teams work with this global network to produce inspiring stories for our site, app, newsletter, and social channels. Alumni of companies including Google, BBC, Guardian, Booking.com and Deliveroo have joined as the company continues to grow.
Every month Culture Trip publishes hundreds of articles enhanced by original video, photography, illustration and animation. We offer highly imaginative, localised content, connecting travel inspiration with the ‘how to’, at a global scale, using creativity and technology to inspire people to plan a trip. The creative output includes video series, original feature films, special reports and magazines as well as engaging social content across multiple channels.
Culture Trip has launched further revenue streams including an online travel agency to connect its rapidly growing millennial audience with places to stay and things to do around the world.
“Really useful app to find interesting things to see do, drink and eat in new places. I’ve been using it regularly in my travels over the past few months. I also love that you can download articles to read when you don’t have internet. One suggestion would be to be able to see the articles in lists offline as well. Loving the app!”
“Very nice app especially to find places during trips that are local and not touristic.”
“All I have to do is type my question and I find what I’m looking for in a heartbeat.”
“I really like this app. Unlike TripAdvisor it’s not full of tours. Unlike guidebooks, which are only updated occasionally, there are frequent new insights, and sometimes on restaurants/cafes, provided on key destinations by different writers. Keep it up Culture Trip!”
